(Phoenix, AZ) Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits Board of Trustees Chair Angela Melczer last month named Deb Bentlage to serve as the first Chair of the Nonprofit Leadership Council of the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits. "I am looking forward to strengthening the leadership role that our nonprofits play in public policy, as well as the economic progress of our state," Bentlage commented. "Working with the other nonprofit representatives on the Leadership Council, we can collaboratively make things happen for nonprofits struggling with so many different issues in today's challenging environment."
The Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits is a statewide membership organization of, by and for all nonprofit organizations. The Alliance launched its membership and programs in early 2006, and today has grown to more than 230 members, one of the fastest growing associations in the country.
The Alliance leadership team includes a Board of Trustees and a Nonprofit Leadership Council. The Council is a representative group of nonprofit leaders drawn from throughout the state and a diverse array of nonprofits, ranging from the arts to civic groups to social services. Bentlage has served on the Leadership Council since its inception in 2005.
In making the appointment, Melczer noted that "Deb's role as a nonprofit leader from a smaller (but also growing) Arizona community will ensure that our programs and services, as advised and guided by the Council, will be grounded in the day-to-day realities facing nonprofits throughout our diverse state. We are looking for someone who can build bridges among the missions of the sector; her leadership in Yavapai County offers ample evidence of her ability to facilitate this type of diversity."
