
Beginning Watercolor Workshop for Kids

Prescott, AZ - The Phippen Museum will present an art workshop for kids ages 8 and up called, Go with the Flow: Beginning Watercolor. This fun art workshop will challenge young people to create there very own Western watercolor still-life. They will learn basic watercolor techniques, tips, and tricks from Prescott artist, Christine Smith. The cost of this Youth Art Workshop is only $5 per participant and includes a tour of the Phippen Museum's new Ray Swanson exhibit; Museum members are free. The Go with the Flow: Beginning Watercolor Workshop is part of the Phippen Museum's continuing series of Youth Art Workshops. These are art classes for young people meant to complement the Museum's exhibits and offer participants a more in-depth and hands-on approach to the typical museum experience. This Art Conversation gives kids the opportunity to learn about traditional Watercolor and painting techniques to coincide with our current exhibit, A Life Lived the Beauty Way: a Ray Swanson Retrospective. Ray was a respected member of the American Watercolor Society and the Cowboy Artists of America. This exhibit runs until July 6, 2008 at the Phippen Museum.
The Phippen Museum opened in 1984 and was named after Prescott resident and founding member of the Cowboy Artists of America, George Phippen. The Museum's mission is to preserve and exhibit museum quality Western art, and educate the public about the unique heritage, history, legends, and influence of the art of the American West. Museum admission is $5.00 for adults; $4.00 for seniors, students, and AAA members; children under twelve and Museum Members are free.
