In Navajo belief, the Beauty Way is the way through which beauty, balance and harmony are maintained in life. To "Walk in the Beauty" means to be at peace with all things and all people. Ray Swanson, respected member of the Cowboy Artists of America and the American Watercolor Society, definitely lived the "Beauty Way" in his career and personal life. His works can currently be seen in the Phippen Museum's exhibit, A Life Lived the Beauty Way: a Ray Swanson Retrospective, which runs from through July 6, 2008. This exhibit features over 60 of Ray's paintings spanning his entire career and includes a replica of his art studio.
