
PRESCOTT, AZ - The Phippen Museum has recently been awarded a grant in the amount of $28,500 from the Arizona Office of Tourism through the Rural Tourism Development Grant Program (RTDGP).
Governor Napolitano and the Arizona Office of Tourism take great pride in the program and regard it as a critical tool for tourism and economic development for Arizona Communities.
The Museum was awarded $28,500 and the project includes three phases to make major improvements to the Museum. The first phase includes cutting an opening between the two galleries and replacing the flooring in the Cultural Hall. The second phase will provide funding to construct a permanent display of the Ray Swanson CA studio and the final phase will be to replace the flooring in the Main Gallery.
The application process is a competitive process with various Arizona organizations competing for much-needed infrastructure funding. The Museum was one out of 20 applicants requesting funding to provide an opportunity to stimulate economic development through tourism within the State of Arizona. This program's objective is to provide rural economic development through tourism to strengthen the regional and local economies and expand tourism in rural communities throughout Arizona.
The Phippen Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission of perpetuating the unique heritage, mythology and influence of American Western Art.
