From July 21 through October 28, Western Art the Cowboy Way will take over the Phippen Museum. This exciting exhibition features the work of two of the best known figures in American Western Art today: Bill Nebeker and Robert "Shoofly" Shufelt.
Both of these artists have a deep appreciation for the life and culture of the American Cowboy. This is evident in their sensitive and realistic portrayals of daily life on the range. Robert Shufelt, better known as "Shoofly", uses his pencil to capture lasting tributes to this vanishing way of life. His subject matter is the simple moments found in everyday cowboy life. While Bill Nebeker, long time member of the Cowboy Artists of America, immortalizes the common cowboy with his dynamic bronze sculptures. He presents truthful depictions of the historic American West with a strong sense of honor and humility.
The Phippen Museum is proud to display the work of these two artists who truly embody the cowboy spirit and perpetuate the endearing legend of life on the range both today and in its past. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00am until 4:00pm and Sundays from 1:00pm until 4:00pm. Admission is $5.00 for Adults, $4.00 for seniors and children under the age of 12 are free.
