Courthouse Square
Prescott’s historic Courthouse Plaza during the Phippen Western Art Show & Sale

The Phippen Museum offered another outstanding presentation of fine art at our 42nd Annual Western Art Show & Sale (May 28th – 30th, 2016). A Memorial Day weekend tradition on Prescott, Arizona's historic courthouse plaza for more than 40 years, this extremely popular art event attracted art enthusiasts, Western collectors and visitors from far and wide, along with some of the nation's most talented artists.

In fact, many of today's most well-known Western artists got their start as juried participants in the Phippen show, creating artwork in oil, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, pastel, sculpture and drawing. And although this annual juried show featured well established artists, up-and-comers who create 'Art of the American West' were also well represented. So not only did guests see some of the greatest examples of Western art in America today, they were also able to meet participating artists in an informal, outdoor setting and purchase pieces directly from the masters.

And with the successful Miniature Masterpiece Show and Sale and a live art auction, there were many special events to keep attendees entertained and involved, including the extremely popular Quick Draw events, the fun-filled Denim to Diamonds Gala with a live art auction, a public artist award ceremony and free admission to the museum all weekend long.
